GENEVA — China said Monday that it will ask the World Trade Organization to examine whether European Union charges on imports of Chinese steel fasteners comply with international commerce rules.
There are 1,200 registered furniture manufacturer currently in Shenzhen, employing 150,000 workers. Shenzhen furniture total revenue grow from 57 MM RMB in 1985 to 16 billion RMB in 2007, with 1 billion US dollor export, accounting for 1/4 of China's total annual furniture export.
EU recently pass a law EU wood and wood products regulation, which rules fines for wood products without the ability to track their origins.
This new law great impacts the exporting of wood products from regions of southern China such as Dongguan and Shun De. Higher costs will be incurred for the manufactuerers to track and document the orgins of every piece of wood used in their product being exported to EU.
