Silk printing is one of the most widely used printing process in China manufacturers for gifts, garments, toys and other products. This process, if used correctly, can present very high quality branding on the products. However, this process involves a lot of manual work and therefore the defect rate is highly correlated to the quality management ability of the printing factory. In many sourcing scenarios however, silk printing is a subcontracted work that is not managed directly by the buyer. It is difficult to communicate directly with the printing factory and ensuring correct understanding of requirement and develop complicated jobs. In many projects,Sourcing Spectrum regards printing as one of the key process and insists on getting involved in the printing development. To help you better taking printing into careful consideration when working with your manufacturers, following is a process flow for most silk printing factories. Step 1 The colors are analyzed. A film is made for each color layer.
Step Three The films are then put on to silk printing plates according to the positioning information marks. One plate is made for one color. The plate is positioned according to the positioning marks on the printing tables at the factory. Step Four The artwork is then "developed" on to the silk plate. The area where there's supposed to be a color will be thin enough to let through printing ink.
Step Five Making the color from the ink according to arworks. Step Six The workers then use the silk plate to brush the color through the thin area. The artwork will then be applied to the substrate. The worker needs to brush one plate for one color.
